In 2022, PodX Group made acquisitions of French podcast studio Nouvelles Écoutes, French podcast producer Studio Minuit, British audio fiction company Goldhawk Productions and Argentinian podcast production company Posta. Just one month ago, they also announced the latest acquisition of the Swedish radio- and podcast production company Filt. PodX Group is now expanding further in the Nordics by acquiring their first podcast studio in Finland, Suomen Podcastmedia. Suomen Podcastmedia (translated to ”Finnish Podcast Media”) is focused on content genres such as true crime, comedy, entertainment and fiction drama. The company has a great reputation for its investigative journalism approach in the true crime genre.
Their podcasts are highly appreciated and have several achievements. ”Ex-jengipomo Keijo Vilhusen elämä” (The Life Of Ex-gangboss Keijo Vilhunen), got 1,3 million downloads with only 8 episodes. ”8 rikosta alamaailmasta” (8 crimes from the Underworld) was #1 on Storytel in Finland last year, even outperforming all books. ”Sarjahukuttaja” (The Serial Drowner) was #1 summer of 2022 on Storytel and also made the police reopen the investigation that the case is about. ”Podiatri” was awarded Winner of the Finnish PR Awards 2021 in medicine. ”Alaston Sofia Belorf” (The Naked Sofia Belórf) was instrumental in Podimo’s successful launch in Finland.
Staffan Rosell, CEO and Member of the Board, PodX Group: “Suomen Podcastmedia is by far Finland’s largest and best operated podcast company, holding over 50% market share and being Finland’s most qualified commercial podcast production studio. Last month, we made a majority investment in the Swedish podcast company Filt that also has offices in Copenhagen and Oslo. With this acquisition, PodX covers the Nordic podcast market. We’re incredibly proud to be able to add Juhani & Joona’s fine company to the PodX group.”
The Finnish podcast scene has not made a breakthrough in the global market yet, but we will make it now with this deal.
